Firstly be calm, assess the situation, carry out the A.B.C (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) procedure, your main aim in this situation is to keep the dog alive until veterinary help arrives or you get your dog to veterinary care in the surgery or animal hospital, be sure the veterinarian is aware of the situation before you arrive. Tip if you carry a mobile phone have the veterinarians telephone number in the memory, and if you take your dog on holiday make sure you know the telephone number of the nearest local practice to where you are staying, yes emergencies do happen even on holidays or days out.
